  • Stand/Sit as tall as possible
  • Tight hand grip on the dumbbell
  • Elbows slightly bent
  • Raise the dumbbell out to the side and slightly forward, as far away from the body as you can
  • Reach about shoulder height
  • Slowly lower the dumbbell with control
